For This Coming Sunday

My son is at that age, 10 years old, when the number one question asked of him is, ”What do you want to do when you grow up?” His answer is always the same, an NBA player. People usually respond with encouraging words and tips on how to obtain this goal… practice, make good grades, exercise and so on.
It is strange to me that people don’t ask him WHO he wants to be when he grows up. What kind of person does he desire to become. Maturity (growing up) isn’t about what we do as a career; it’s about who we become as a person.
And the same is true about our growth in Christ. It isn’t about title or position. It is about a transformed life that produces Godly character.
